About the Course
Stuttering Assessments Can Unlock Locked Doors
In this 60-minute webinar designed for speech-language pathologists, participants will learn how to conduct comprehensive stuttering evaluations that consider the whole person and the lived experience of stuttering.
The session will explore key components of stuttering assessments, including affective, behavioral, cognitive, and social considerations. Participants will also learn how to incorporate insights from children and their families, recognizing families as experts on their own children and experiences.
Attendees will explore specific assessment tools for preschool and school-aged children, as well as effective strategies for interviewing children and their families. The session will conclude with practical guidance on how to share assessment results with families, answer their questions, and provide appropriate resources for continued learning..

Meet our Speaker
Daniel is a speech-language pathologist at the Sisskin Stuttering Center and for Sumner County Schools in Tennessee. He has extensive experience working in both public school and university clinical settings, most recently serving as the chair of the stuttering team at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His areas of special interest include stuttering across the lifespan, counseling, autism, and play development.
Daniel also serves as the director of Camp TALKS, a week-long summer camp for children who stutter at Vanderbilt University. He is a Spero Stuttering Ambassador for Caregiver Bridge, a program that provides free consultations for families of children who stutter.
He has presented on Avoidance Reduction Therapy for Stuttering (ARTS®) in workshops and graduate courses and mentors graduate students and speech therapists interested in providing stutter-affirming therapy.
Daniel is deeply devoted to helping people who stutter find their voice and actualize their potential, not in spite of their stuttering, but through it.
